Synopsis

ANIMAGORIA - Festa do Cinema de Animação do Algarve arose from a deep passion for Animated Film and the desire to create a space dedicated to its celebration in the Algarve.
This annual event is based on 3 key concepts: youth perspective, activism and interdisciplinarity. We propose highlighting works by young filmmakers and highlighting socially and politically conscious films that promote debate on Animated Film as an art form capable of communicating with and about the world.

Author Biography

Catarina Calvinho Gil, Universidade Nova de Lisboa

Catarina Calvinho Gil is a researcher at CineLab (Cinema and Politics: Philosophical Approaches) and currently an assistant director of the animated feature film “Nayola”, directed by José Miguel Ribeiro and co-producted by Praça Filmes, Illuster, S.O.I.L., JPL Films and Luna Blue Films. She has a Master in Science Communication (Cinema at NOVA University, Lisbon) with a thesis about the Socio-political aspects of Portuguese Animation (2018). Now she is researching about Animation and Feminism.
